NEW STRIP DOES THE TRICK

Ransomes entered a new era in their match against Holywells at Sidegate Avenue last night.
Proudly sporting their new personalised strip displaying a flying shuttlecock, the three shuttlecocks flying around the court completely mesmerised the opposition and Ransomes notched up a convincing 6 1/2 - 2 1/2 victory.

The new era of professionalism and total commitment was evident from start to finish and should serve as a warning to the other teams in the league.

The revitalised and rejuvenated Ransomes outfit has all it takes to go right to the top.

RANSOMES GET IT WRIGHT - CRUCIAL DRAW

From our Biased Correspondent:

The much maligned[???] selection committee was last night vindicated in their decision to make tactical changes for the crucial clash with East Bergholt.

Brothers Will and Tom Wright performed heroically to record 2.5 points against very strong opposition. With excellent support from the ever-reliable George/Bradley partnership (who collected 2 points) Ransomes were able to record a crucial away draw that could be the difference between staying up or being relegated. The two P’s, Potter and Prentice, battled manfully to record zero points.

The team held an impromptu meeting after the match in a local hostelry where the complexities of modern day badminton were discussed. Thanks to John Potter for buying the drinks and Richard for getting the crisps.

Quotes from those involved:-

“It was a good venue and they played with good shuttles, even Benji could have played here" [???]
Richard Bradley

“Don’t be ridiculous Richard” [???]
Neil, Will and Tom

“It was like World War III out there”
John Potter

N.B.: [???]s added by Official Blogger Benji who does not approve of any form of winding up.

ADASTRAL PARK HUMILIATED

SIDEGATE AVENUE - 26/02/07
Adastral Park were made to look very second rate as they were beaten conviningly by Ransomes (6 1/2 - 2 1/2).
It looks as if Adastral Park will finish above Ransomes in the final league table, but on this performance it is difficult to see why this should be.

Match Report

Mixed Result
Mon 29/01/07 Ransomes 4 1/2 - Meridians 4 1/2
Ransomes came close to giving Meridians their first beating of the season despite fielding two pairings ( I. Lewiston/W. Wright and S. Taylor-Marriot/J. Fitch) that had virtually no previous experience of playing together. Nevertheless, both these pairs came up with the goods against strong opposition. S. Flewitt/J. Bennett were on court in game 8 with the scores standing at 4 - 3 in Ransomes' favour. Unfortunately, J "Benji" Bennett's performance was well below par in the first half and he was left floundering on numerous occasions by the skillful opposition who won the half. However, the Ransomes pair approached the second half with typical determination and secured the draw. An excellent all-round performance.
